Downtown Wichita Falls Development will continue a 30 year tradition with some big changes this year. The annual City Lights Parade that is normally held the week before Thanksgiving is moving to Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 4pm – 9pm.
Another big change this year is turning the traditional parade into a reverse parade. A reverse parade will allow attendees to see the parade however they feel most comfortable. They will have the option to drive by the stationary floats or get out and walk the parade route on the sidewalk side of the street.
The theme for this year’s event is sELFie Christmas. Float entrants are encouraged to create selfie stations on the back of their floats giving families that choose to walk the parade route a festive background for photos.
New additions to the event this year will include a 12 Clues of Christmas scavenger hunt, a Cookie Crawl/ Wine Walk, s’more stations, Luminaria Park (Bud Daniel Park), and an artisan market.
Family favorite traditions will continue! Santa will be at Santa Land (Park Central at 8th and Scott, reindeer games, food trucks, and downtown shopping!
Things may look a little different this year but instead of cancelling the event, Downtown Wichita Falls Development is working towards ways to continue the tradition and provide a safe and fun holiday event for our community.
