Arts for All Mural
800 Ohio Ave, Wichita Falls, TX 76301
The Arts For All community mural is located on the south exterior wall of the historic Zales building on Ohio, currently Karat Bar & Bistro. The project, funded by The Priddy Foundation, was a joint endeavor from the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University and Downtown Wichita Falls Development. Anne Farley Gaines of Chicago, who has completed several collaborative urban mural projects, was commissioned by the The Priddy Foundation to orchestrated the design. More than 500 local artists, students and participants of all ages contributed to the mixed-media mural honoring Wichita Falls and its “Blue Skies, Golden Opportunities, Red Sunsets.”
Each panel contains a variety of painted and fired ceramic tiles, mosaic tiles and sculpted, three-dimensional fired clay pieces. Popular subjects include historic buildings and churches, animals, landmarks and events in the city’s history. The background of the mural is painted as a Texas sky and sunset. The mural was formally dedicated to the community during the Art & Soul Festival Saturday, June 24, 2017.
