D.L. Ligon Coliseum

D.L. Ligon Coliseum has been home to the Midwestern State Athletic Department for more than 50 years and is the site of all MSU home basketball and volleyball events. Built in 1969, the facility underwent a $25-plus million renovation process in 2011. It included significant locker room upgrades and updated the historic venue to modern codes. The playing court at Ligon Coliseum was officially named Dr. Gerald Stockton Court in 2002 in honor of the program’s legendary coach, who led MSU to 493 wins from 1970-94. The 3,640-seat arena is air-conditioned and has a hardwood playing surface. The building also features a practice gymnasium, athletics weight room, training room, locker rooms, ticket booth, and classrooms as well as Midwestern’s athletic offices.
DIRECTIONS
FROM THE SOUTH (U.S. 281): Take Midwestern Parkway exit and turn left under the overpass. Travel 2.4 miles on Midwestern Parkway to the traffic light at the intersection at Taft Blvd. Continue 500 feet and make a right turn onto Council Drive (campus). D.L. Ligon Coliseum will be on your right.
FROM THE NORTH (I-44): Continue on U.S. 277/281 over the elevated highway, then exit right onto U.S. 82 West / U.S. 277 South. Exit at Taft Blvd. and turn left onto Taft Blvd. under the overpass. Continue 1.25 miles through the neighborhood to the traffic light at Midwestern Pkwy. Turn right onto Midwestern Pkwy., continue 500 feet and make right turn onto Council Drive (campus). D.L. Ligon Coliseum will be on your right.
FROM THE EAST (U.S. 287/U.S. 82): Merge left onto U.S. 82 West / U.S. 277 South. Exit at Taft Blvd. and turn left onto Taft Blvd. under the overpass. Continue 1.25 miles through the neighborhood to the traffic light at Midwestern Pkwy. Turn right onto Midwestern Pkwy., continue 500 feet and make a right turn onto Council Drive (campus). D.L. Ligon Coliseum will be on your right.
FROM THE WEST (U.S. 287): Continue on U.S. 277/281 over the elevated highway, then exit right onto U.S. 82 West / U.S. 277 South. Continue 1.7 miles, then exit at Taft Blvd. and turn left onto Taft Blvd. under the overpass. Continue 1.25 miles through the neighborhood to the traffic light at Midwestern Pkwy. Turn right onto Midwestern Pkwy., continue 500 feet and make a right turn onto Council Drive (campus). D.L. Ligon Coliseum will be on your right.
