Downtown Wichita Falls Farmers Market
713 Ohio Ave. Wichita Falls TX 76301 | 940-322-4525 | website
The Downtown Wichita Falls Farmers Market exists to increase access to healthy, local food and provide economic opportunity to the greater Wichita Falls area. The Farmers Market experience: Grab a cup of coffee, sample some wine, support small businesses, then grab a bite to eat and enjoy some live music.
The current market facility may have just been built in the 1980’s but still holds a unique part in the history of Wichita Falls. Agriculture has played a major role in the development of Wichita County, and farmers from all over North Central Texas bring their produce to this busy market, the style of which is a contemporary adaptation of the beloved Union Passenger Station built in 1910. At the peak of the railroad passenger era during the Burkburnett oil boom of 1918, more than thirty trains boarded and de-boarded daily. Union Station was abandoned and demolished shortly after the last passenger train came through Wichita Falls in 1967.
In May of 2012, Downtown Wichita Falls Development took over the management of the Downtown Wichita Falls Farmers Market from the City of Wichita Falls. Since then the market is now open year round, is the center for many community events, and is also rented for private events.
