Step into the eye of the storm with our next Sip’N Science program, Terrible Tuesday! Guided by retired Chief Meteorologist John Cameron, learn about the path of destruction created by the terrifying Wichita Falls tornado that took place in 1979. Sippers will learn how to keep themselves safe, view images of Terrible Tuesday and its aftermath, along with learning general tornado trivia. Join us while enjoying some of your favorite beverages and snack on delicious hor d’oeuvres!

Explore the minute-by-minute timeline of this disaster and where the tornado caused catastrophic damage. Guests will take a jump back into the past and watch this historical event step by step, and learn where we could have changed the course of history. John will also delve into some common safety methods and facts about these swirling giants, along with examining the damage left behind.

Participants will chase the tornado’s route through Wichita Falls and discover some myths and truths about this terrifying storm. Separating fact from fiction, John will elaborate how these myths have affected the public’s perspective of tornadoes. Sippers will also hear the tales of this unhinged tornado and how it affected locals and families of our city.

Attendees will have the opportunity to quiz themselves on this event’s timeline, its impact on the community, and the lessons learned from this devastating natural disaster.
